Hitachi DZ-BD70E review
Reviews With the format war now over and Blu-ray victorious, Hitachi should be on to a winner as the first to bring a Blu-ray camcorder to market. With the format war only just coming to an end, consumers haven't fully committed to Blu-ray yet.

Pioneer BDP-LX70 review
Reviews Pioneer has bravely entered the high-definition format war by nailing its colours to the Blu-ray mast with a new high-end player, the BDP-LX70. It not only caters for just one side in an unresolved format war, but it's also about to go out of date.

HDTV services
Reviews This means that the big movies such as Batman Begins, King Kong and War of the Worlds are pretty much guaranteed for the format. However Blu-ray has one key factor that could win the war overnight -- Sony's PlayStation 3 (see below).

Alienware Aurora 7500 SLI review
Reviews This is war. War at the kind of frame rates that can make a grown man run from the living room shrieking, doomed to spend the rest of his life nursing shell-shock. There's no pity in the world of virtual war, no medals, no real-world glory.

Sony KDS-55A2000 review
Reviews For starters, its blacks are better than anything LCD can manage: even in a dark room, the murkiest parts of gloomy games like Gears of War look black rather than grey. It's the same with dark scenes, like the scene in Tim Robbins' basement in War...

Denon DVD-1930 review
Reviews While rival manufacturers are embroiled in the format war being waged between HD DVD and Blu-ray high-definition players, Denon has ignored the hype and concentrated on improving standard-definition performance.

Nokia 5140 review
Reviews It is believed that only three things will survive a nuclear war: Volvos, cockroaches, and tins of baked beans. But with its 5140 cell phone, Nokia might have added another item to the mix. Wrapped in rubber and solidly constructed, the 5140 is a...

rockdirect Hardbook review
Reviews In a skirmish towards the beginning of the war, a US soldier got caught in gunfire with nothing to defend himself but a Panasonic Toughbook 72. Out in Iraq, they use laptops that are different from ours.

PURE Digital Oasis review
Reviews Nothing short of nuclear war could pound its way through this chassis. While some products struggle to hammer out a niche for themselves, the PURE Oasis is all brawn. There's no mistaking this for what it is: a romper-stomping, reinforced-metal...

Eclipse TD307PAII review
Reviews They're beautifully designed and ornately finished, with a thick glossy enclosure and the build-quality of the finest war machine. The speakers that came with your PC are likely to do the job of playing Windows error beeps satisfactorily, but what...

Jens of Sweden MP-500 (1GB) review
Reviews Jens gives the impression of a renegade outfit fighting a funny little guerilla war around Apple's towering legs. The company has a speckled past. Jens' eccentric founder, Jens Nylander, once recorded a song in a bid to compete with Apple's iPod.

Shure SE210 sound isolating headphones review
Reviews When put to the task of playing the powerful live rock performance of Endless Sacrifice by Dream Theater, the SE210s rendered John Petrucci's melodic guitar harmonies exceptionally well, while still letting Mike Portnoy's frantic drumming to pound...

Hitachi P50T01U review
Reviews In performance terms, the P50T01U's strongest suit is its fine detailing, as it confidently portrays every last tiny texture in pristine HD fodder, such as Gears of War on the Xbox 360, without a trace of grain or dot crawl noise.

Disc-based camcorders
Reviews Blu-ray is not yet as ubiquitous as DVD, probably because consumers have been waiting for the result of the format war with HD DVD. DVD is far and away the most convenient format for recording and playing back video, simply because of the ubiquity...

Canon DC10 review
Reviews The need to accommodate these half-size discs has defined the shape of the DC10 -- it looks a lot like the heads of the alien creatures in War of the Worlds. DVD is undeniably superior to the ageing VHS tape format in the world of home movies, but...
