Sony DRU-800A review
Reviews Though it can't write double-layer DVD+R media as fast as Plextor's PX-716A or Memorex's 16x16x DL IDE drive, Sony's reliable DRU-800A DVD burner is a very good all-round performer. As we mention in every Sony burner review, the back also houses...

Lenovo ThinkPad X301 review
Reviews In fact, with the exception of a new DisplayPort connector, the X301's case is essentially identical to that of the X300, right down to the built-in DVD burner. As with the X300, the ThinkPad X301 incorporates an optional built-in DVD burner.

Find the specs that are just right
Reviews If you plan to transfer and edit home movies, you'll also need a massive hard drive, a FireWire port and a DVD burner. CD burner and -- in many cases -- a DVD-recordable drive inch CRT or 15- or 17-inch LCD piece or 2.1 speaker set

Alienware Bot review
Reviews FeaturesAlienware stocked our test system with a 3.0GHz Pentium 4 530, 512MB of 400MHz Corsair DDR SDRAM, a 160GB Serial ATA hard drive and NEC's speedy ND-3520 multiformat, double-layer DVD burner. The Bot comes with some good parts, including...

Lenovo ThinkPad X300 review
Reviews The newest addition to the ThinkPad X series incorporates the best of the MacBook Air -- 13.3-inch display, full-size keyboard, thickness less than 25mm -- with the best of the Portege R500 -- solid-state hard drive, thorough selection of ports...

Toshiba Libretto U100 review
Reviews It actually comes in two parts: the computer itself and a docking unit called the SuperMulti Dock, which houses the optical drive (a multi-format DVD burner, no less). But it doesn't: its sole job is to house the multi-format DVD burner and provide...

Hitachi DZ-MV580E review
Reviews Ergonomics here were largely determined by the fact that the camcorder accommodates a DVD burner. Hitachi has done an excellent job of integrating the burner into the DZ-MV580E. It used to be that camcorders recorded on exactly the same VHS tapes...

Find the drives you need to succeed
Reviews We recommend including at least a CD-RW drive in a PC at any price level; it's almost to the point where a DVD burner is a requisite in all but budget-class systems. The fastest CD burner can write to CD-Rs at 52X speed and rewrite to CD-RWs at 24X...

Apple iBook G4 (14-inch) review
Reviews For its £899 price, our 14-inch iBook G4 evaluation system offered a mixed bag of components: a sluggish 1.42GHz PowerPC G4 processor, a decent 512MB of memory (now upgradable to 1.5GB), cutting-edge Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, 802.11g AirPort Extreme...

Apple MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2.4GHz) review
Reviews DVD burner DVD burner Apple's recent update of its 13-inch MacBook line was a modest one, with an incremental processor upgrade and updated default components. However, the 15 and 17-inch MacBook Pro laptops have gotten a much more radical...

Toshiba Satellite Pro A100-415 review
Reviews You can back up files to CD or DVD using the multi-format dual layer DVD burner As the built-in hard drive is relatively small, you'll probably find yourself backing up files to CD or DVD using the multi-format dual layer DVD burner.

Panasonic DMR-EX77 review
Reviews Panasonic's solution is the EX77, a hard-disk Freeview PVR with a DVD burner built in. With the VHS recorder consigned to the loft along with all your Only Fools and Horses tapes, you'll need something to record Top Gear while you're having that...

Apple PowerBook G4 (12-inch, SuperDrive) review
Reviews The opposite edge hosts the slot-loading single-layer DVD burner, which we prefer to a breakable optical-drive tray. At £1,099, it's priced above most of the PC thin-and-light competition at this size, but you get a competitive set of hardware...
