Fujifilm FinePix F100fd review
Reviews For us, manual control means the ability to control exposure quickly and simply, but altering exposure involves a rigmarole of extra wheel spinning and button pushing.Using the playful wheel to sift through menus and adding extra button pushing is...

Olympus mju 1200 review
Reviews The raised surface mode wheel interferes somewhat with the action of the zoom rocker, which is itself as clunky as most rockers. The wheel is stiff, and annoyingly does not revolve 360 degrees. The playback button is superfluous, duplicating a...

Nikon Coolpix P5100 review
Reviews The P5100's SLR-like controls include a chunky mode wheel and thumb wheel for changing settings A control wheel adjusts some settings, although it takes some getting used to. The Nikon P5100 is the 12.1-megapixel flagship camera in the Coolpix range.

Olympus Stylus mju 780 review
Reviews The mju 780 is controlled with these chunky, retro, squared-off buttons and a small mode-selector wheel The mode wheel seems tiny by comparison and is really tough to turn. The Olympus Stylus mju 780 is a fairly nondescript digital compact camera...

Kodak EasyShare M853 review
Reviews The mode wheel sits to the left of the shutter button, and we found it was a little too far over for the thumb to rest on it comfortably. It also doesn't go all the way around, so even though movie and favourites mode are next to each other, you...

Canon Powershot G10 review
Reviews Menu, display, metering and focus point adjustment buttons are arranged around the wheel, but have a strange angled surface that makes them difficult to press. A four-way clickpad is surrounded by a scroll wheel, which should be familiar to EOS users.

Nokia 7280 review
Reviews Instead of pressing buttons, you have to spin the multipurpose control wheel, which takes both practise and patience. You must make friends with the black-and-silver wheel on the front, which Nokia calls the Navi spinner.

Samsung i600 review
Reviews One design feature that is really easy to use is the scroll wheel on the right side for reading emails and navigating through the menu. Otherwise, the i600 is as good as smartphones get, and the nifty scroll wheel excites.

Nokia 7380 review
Reviews Everything on the 7380 is activated via the scroll wheel, known as the Nokia Navi Spinner. However, in defence of the scroll wheel, once you've gone to the trouble of inputting telephone numbers, scrolling through them is a joy.

Olympus E-410 review
Reviews Unfortunately, If you want to switch from scene selection to manual modes, which are next to each other, you have to twist the wheel all the way round in the other direction. The mode wheel allows you to choose from aperture priority, shutter...

XFM DAB Radio review
Reviews The directional pad even echoes the design of the iPod's famous Click Wheel. Instead of adapting analogue controls to interact with digital radio, i.Tech Dynamic has reinvented the wheel in a considerably less elegant way.

Nikon Coolpix S51c review
Reviews Setting up your wireless preferences is slightly fiddly as you have to use the scroll wheel to enter letters, similar to high-score screens on videogames. Functions are controlled with a rotary multi-selector -- or scroll wheel -- that is far and...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H50 review
Reviews We prefer the Nikon Coolpix scroll wheel that combines scroll wheel and click pad. A spinning selector wheel surrounds the standard click pad. The wheel has raised ridges to make it grippy enough to spin easily, but it's narrow.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H7 review
Reviews We love the scroll wheel, but it takes a little while to get used to the operation for adjusting shooting settings. Sony also "improves" upon the simple four-way-plus-set navigation controls of the H5 by adding a scroll wheel and now-Sony-standard...

Samsung YP-Z5 (2GB) review
Reviews The iPod makes it easy to navigate through tracks (using the Click Wheel) and it's easy to find the song you want (using the simple menu structure). However, instead of a Click Wheel interface, the YP-Z5 uses a directional control pad that relies...
