Pioneer Kuro KRL-32V review
Reviews When Pioneer announced that it was producing a Kuro LCD TV, a number of people reacted strongly, and not in a good way. The controller that comes with this TV isn't quite as weighty as those that ship with the plasmas, but it still has that classy...

Pioneer LX01 review
Reviews Pioneer has taken the 'all bells and whistles' approach to home cinema success by offering a system with an astonishing array of features. Pioneer's excellent video processing technology will upscale standard DVDs and Freeview programmes all the...

Pioneer BDP-LX71 review
Reviews The remote is the same style as all Pioneer controllers -- it's long, substantial and feels hefty. Those people should not continue to read this review, because the Pioneer BDP-LX71 is pretty much the most expensive Blu-ray player we've reviewed in...

Four of the best plasma televisions
Reviews Panasonic and Pioneer produce the richest black levels we've seen, but both Samsung and LG have models that hold their own. And lastly, the mother of all televisions: the Pioneer PDP-LX6090, which we think is quite possibly the best TV on the...

Best TVs for deep contrast
Reviews Called a 'Kuro' TV -- translated from Japanese to mean 'black', of course -- the Pioneer PDP-428XD is designed to be as good at producing blacks as possible. With 1080p televisions becoming more and more common and other innovations like 100Hz, 24p...

Four of the best Blu-ray players
Reviews It doesn't support Profile 1.1, but then again neither does the Pioneer BDP-LX70 and it costs quite a lot more. With HD DVD on its last legs, it seems like a pretty good time to do a round up of some of the best and most interesting Blu-ray players...

DVD recorders with bonus features
Reviews The older kids on the block are the Pioneer DVR-520H and Philips' HDRW720. Of the two, Pioneer's box is better designed -- its editing features are as good as ever and the AV performance is pure gold.

Plasma perfection: the 42-inch flat-screen shootout
Reviews Pioneer's plasmas are expensive, but they've been the ones to beat on picture quality, and they don't look too bad either. Pioneer has been nothing if consistent in its plasma output, with a picture quality to die for.

All-in-one home cinema systems
Reviews If you want something more substantial, Pioneer's DCS-360 is one of the few systems that features floor-standing speakers. Sound is just as essential to enjoying a film as a decent display -- and there's no easier way of introducing surround sound...

LG 50PG6900 review
Reviews At £1,000 it's considerably cheaper than the Pioneer of the same size, and is a decent saving on the Panasonic, especially when you consider that the LG includes a Freeview+ PVR (formerly known as Freeview Playback).

Samsung PS50A756 review
Reviews This year Pioneer has come back with even better TVs -- some of the best we've ever seen, in fact -- so when the new Samsung PS50A756 landed on our doorstep, we couldn't wait to see what it could do. We picked it over an excellent Pioneer because...

Sony KE-P42M1 review
Reviews It looks very cheap compared to the sophisticated styling of Panasonic or Pioneer plasmas. The Japanese giant has been backing the technology, but it has let Panasonic and Pioneer woo the early adopters, before swooping in for the drop on the mass...

Loewe Xelos A42 review
Reviews Unlike Pioneer's PDP-435XDE though, this isn't a reference-quality picture performer, and the television's navigation is infuriating at times. With high-definition compatibility, this is a plasma that's ready for tomorrow, yet it retails for around...

Hitachi 42PD7200 review
Reviews DesignHitachi's plasmas lack the distinct sophistication of Pioneer and Panasonic's recent efforts, but the 42PD7200 still manages to look modern. PerformanceAt a mid-range price, the 42PD7200 could potentially be forgiven for having a weaker...

Philips 42PFL9803 review
Reviews Pioneer makes its remotes with real metal and we think Philips should too. As much as we like the picture, we really don't think plasmas from Pioneer and Panasonic need to quake in their boots at this stage.
