Philips GoGear SA6025 review
Reviews If you're not tempted by the iPod nano, this competitor could excite. For around £79, this player promises a generous feature set and certainly beats the nano in terms of affordability (which is £99 for the 2GB model) and usefulness.

Sony NW-A808 review
Reviews It's ever so slightly smaller than the nano and weighs a mere 10g more, despite being capable of playing full-screen video. On looks alone, it's a worthy contender to Apple's iPod nano and Samsung's YP-K3.

Philips SA9345 review
Reviews With prices hovering around the £129 mark, the same as a brand new video iPod nano, we're hoping for a solid competitor. The 46mm (1.8-inch) colour LCD display has a resolution of 220x176 pixels -- lower than the iPod nano's sharp 51mm (2-inch...

Cowon iAudio U3 (2GB) review
Reviews But with the 4GB iPod nano selling for £20 less and the upcoming 6GB SanDisk e270 coming in at under £200 -- not to mention the 30GB video iPod for just £20 more -- you have to ask yourself if this pricey player is a sensible buy.

Better than iPod: Four killer alternatives
Reviews The nano alternative: Cowon's iAudio 7 earns its place in our list of 'better than iPod' models, simply because of its stunning battery life of 60 hours. Although Apple's iPod nano will chug along constantly for about a full day, the iAudio 7 will...

Philips GoGear SA4020 review
Reviews The GoGear SA4000 series is no cheaper than competitors such as the Creative Zen Nano Plus, the mobiBlu DAH-1500i, and the SanDisk Sansa c250, but it still sacrifices useful features such as an FM tuner.

Nike + iPod Sport Kit review
Reviews The Nike + iPod Sport Kit looks like a very simple and effective way of turning your iPod nano into a sophisticated pedometer. The receiver that plugs into the base of your nano looks exactly like the head of the charger lead -- it couldn't be more...

Apple iPod classic (2nd gen) review
Reviews The nano will always be more suitable for the gym, but for other purposes the classic's size and weight shouldn't be an issue. It may be larger than the nano, but it stores so much more Unchanged, too, is the 64mm (2.5-inch) 320x240-pixel screen...

SanDisk Sansa e260 (4GB) review
Reviews The SanDisk Sansa e200 series (4GB) next to the 4GB Apple iPod nano (with a ColorWare treatment). This 4GB version costs £30 less than the 4GB nano, but the nano is much thinner and lighter than the e200

Logitech mm50 Portable Speakers for iPod review
Reviews As long as the speaker is plugged into a wall outlet, your dock-connector iPod (yes, even the nano) will be charged while in this slot. Logitech includes snap-on adaptors to ensure a snug fit for your iPod, with the exception of the Nano.

Creative Zen Sleek review
Reviews Interestingly, the Nano doesn't need you to install any special software either. This simplicity makes the Nano Plus more rewarding to use. Well, considering that the ignoble Creative Zen Nano Plus can manage this, why does its big brother the...

Apple iPod (60GB, video) review
Reviews The Click Wheel, which utilises in-house technology (Apple has abandoned Synaptics tech, starting with the nano), is actually smaller -- by about 8mm in diameter -- than the fourth-gen iPod, which means you won't get as much scrolling action with...

Jens of Sweden MP-500 (1GB) review
Reviews The MP-500 is smaller than the iPod nano when stared at head-on (81 by 40mm), but at 13mm deep, it's nearly twice as thick. Unlike the nano, it's almost impossible to scratch the Jens. The Elton John of the MP3 player world, Jens of Sweden is...

Samsung YP-T8 review
Reviews It's reasonably scratch-resistant, certainly more so than the nano. There's still some way to go before the T8 matches the nano for styling, but the upcoming YP-Z5 may be worth looking out for if the styling on the T8 doesn't grip you.
