Kodak EasyShare V705 review
Reviews The 5x part is actually a bit of marketing hype, since it includes the gap between the 23mm lens and the start of the 3x zoom at 39mm. When Kodak introduced the V570 at CES last January, some editors were confused by Kodak's decision to include a...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S40 review
Reviews This was obviously a marketing decision rather than a technical limitation; the main incentive for moving up to the Cyber-shot DSC-S60 is its 51mm screen. Only a few years ago, you had to pay £400 or more for a decent digital camera.

Toshiba 32WLT58 review
Reviews DesignAlthough companies like Samsung, Sony and Panasonic have been marketing their TVs solely on how cool they look, Toshiba's last LCD range was boring. Toshiba's last range of LCD TVs lost out to those of Panasonic, Sony and Samsung in the mid...

Judging picture quality
Reviews Look for these features or characteristics and disregard other features that sound good on the surface but in reality are just marketing ploys. Most electronics shops show their televisions on a big wall, fed by the same video signal split a...

Kodak EasyShare M1073 IS review
Reviews The sticker on the front trumpets high-definition stills, but as HD is substantially smaller than 10 megapixels anyway, this really is just marketing hot air. The Kodak EasyShare M1073 IS is a 10.2-megapixel point-and-shoot.

ATI Radeon HD 3850 review
Reviews Unfortunately, neither amounts to more than a marketing bullet point, at least in practical terms. Finally, a midrange graphics card worth its silicon. ATI's new 256MB Radeon HD 3850 graphics card is the best-performing 3D card in its price class.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1 review
Reviews As the company admitted at the Photo Marketing Association trade show last February, the body shares much of the internal design with the Olympus Evolt E-330 -- including its side-swinging Porro Mirror viewfinder, which provides a through-the-lens...

HP Photosmart R927 review
Reviews Of course, there's also a list of accessories with blurb from the HP marketing department -- "Protect and transport your camera in style with HP's new Signature Collection Cases", one part implores. Most digital cameras come with the assumption...

Fujifilm FinePix S5700 review
Reviews Furthermore, Fujifilm leads the pack at eking every bit of marketing possible out of high-ISO shooting. With its attractive price -- £170 for 7 megapixels, 38mm-380mm-equivalent 10x zoom lens, and a full set of manual and semi-manual controls...

Siemens CL75 Poppy review
Reviews Probably the worst fault of the CL75, notwithstanding the shameless marketing wheeze that women are going to fall for something pink with a dangly charm attached, is the poor colouring on the numberpad.

Philips HTS8000S review
Reviews Philips is marketing the HTS8000S not only as a 2.1 system, but also as a virtual-surround system. And this goes for every part of the system -- the subwoofer can be hung on the wall, the DVD player is a unique vertical design and the speakers...

Philips DVDR5520H review
Reviews Stupid marketing-speak out of the way, you'll find that the picture quality from the Philips is pretty good. So will this £240 box offer what we need in an all-in-one machine, or is it going to be a case of promising the world but failing to deliver?

Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 review
Reviews Sony makes no guarantees of lens compatibility beyond the Sony Alpha lenses that it is marketing, but a Minolta lens that we tried worked fine. That means you can use Minolta hotshoe flashes on the Alpha and, of course, Sony will be marketing the...

Olympus Evolt E-300 review
Reviews As of this writing, only Olympus is marketing Four-Thirds format cameras, and the company offers eight lenses, called Zuiko Digitals, for the system. The uniquely styled 8-megapixel Evolt E-300 from Olympus enters the expanding field of entry-level...

Kodak EasyShare V803 review
Reviews It's telling that the second paragraph of Kodak's press release for the V803 starts with a quote from chief marketing officer Pierre Schaeffer, rather than a product manager or engineer. Even if a gadget is pretty and stylish, it's worthless if it...
