HP Photosmart C8180 All-in-One review
Reviews Other printers make you pour through pages and pages of instructions and ultimately force you to set up the connection via an ad-hoc network, but the C8180 distills the process down to a simple pairing between the printer and your computer.

Flip Video Ultra review
Reviews On the one hand, it's unbeatable for ad hoc, down-and-dirty, quick and easy shooting and uploading. The arrival of assorted clones demonstrates the phenomenal success Flip Video has had in the States with the Flip Video Ultra, the ultra-simple mini...

Toshiba Regza 37XV505D review
Reviews If you've never heard of it, AD is a method of sending an extra audio track to the TV that includes a description of what's happening on-screen. You're not seeing things: the Toshiba Regza 37XV505 owes a lot of its styling to the ultra-slim Toshiba...

Sony Handycam HDR-SR5E review
Reviews As we've said before -- and will repeat ad nauseam -- the 69mm (2.7-inch) LCD is too small for comfortable touchscreen operation. With its £500 street price, HD video support, hard-disk-based recording and Sony provenance, the Handycam HDR-SR5E...

Sony Walkman NWZ-A815 review
Reviews There's a quirky 'Time Machine Shuffle' option that creates ad-hoc playlists of tracks from randomly selected years of release. Earlier in the year, we took a look at the first devices in Sony's A-Series of players, notably the NW-A808.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G1 review
Reviews If the DSC-G1 supported DLNA in addition to standard Wi-Fi access points and hot spots, with the ability to upload your photos and videos to a sharing service, or to wirelessly upload to a laptop via an ad hoc connection, the others might be...

Nokia 6110 Navigator review
Reviews You should definitely try the hilarious text-to-speech function, which barks out texts in the style of a 1980s Barrett Homes TV ad voiceover, with a digital edge. Using Route 66 software, it promises ultra-accurate positioning with online-assisted...

Razer DeathAdder review
Reviews Razer's ad hoc approach doesn't work half as well. At around £40, Razer's mouse is about the same price, but the DeathAdder offers much more customisability and is also more accurate. That alone will be enough to sway the gamers in the audience.

Archos 604 WiFi review
Reviews Also, there is no ad hoc mode so you can't connect directly with other 604 WiFi devices, unless you do so via the network. Basically, the 604 WiFi is the 604 (read the review) with integrated Wi-Fi and a touchscreen.

Nokia 6234 review
Reviews It's great to see infrared in a handset -- it's so much easier to share files on an ad hoc basis using this than it is with Bluetooth. The unsophisticated looks of this handset underscore great ergonomics though, with well-designed keys that are...

Nikon Coolpix P3 review
Reviews Typically, you'll want to run the camera in ad-hoc mode, which lets you transfer directly to a nearby Wi-Fi-enabled computer. First, you must decide whether you want to connect in Ad-hoc (directly to a wireless-capable computer) or Infrastructure...

Humax PVR-9200T review
Reviews This means you can rewind something that you've missed (a great goal in football for example), pause live TV while you go and make a cup of tea, or if you're 'timeslipping' (watching a programme from the beginning while it's still recording), fast...

It's playback time: Freeview hard-drive recorders
Reviews But they're not just one big recorder -- these devices will buffer the current channel on the same hard drive, meaning you can pause live TV, rewind through what you've been watching and cut out the ad breaks.

Philips LX7500R review
Reviews And of course, if you use a DVD+RW disc, you can edit down your recording and cut out the ad breaks. Think about it -- the average household is likely to have at least a DVD player/recorder, Freeview/Sky receiver and games console, while a good...

Terratec Cinergy T2 review
Reviews Experienced timeslippers sometimes prefer to pause the beginning of a programme and then start watching it 15 minutes afterwards, so that they can jump in and skip the ad breaks as they happen. We've seen some very small Freeview boxes, but this...
