Photos: Extensive ears-on with Sennheiser IE 8
Crave Rarely do we hear an earphone we think challenges the spectacular Shure SE530s, but this could be one of them. But in terms of sheer pleasure to listen to, the IE 8s are right up there with Shure's flagship model.

Ears-on with the Shure SE102 earphones
Crave Shure surprised us when it released the SE110s. At first glance these offer some characteristics of higher-end Shure earphones: thick cabling, gold-plated plugs and connectors, and an over-the-ear design.

Photos: Ears-on with the Sennheiser IE 8, IE 7 and IE 6
Crave That £250 price point puts these single-driver 'phones smack bang up against the triple-driver Shure SE530s and the dual-armature Audio Technica ATH-CK10s. Last week we were shown Sennheiser's latest earphones, the IE 6, IE 7 and the flagship IE 8.

Photos: Ears-on with the Audio Technica ATH-CK10 earphones
Crave These sound-isolating dual-armature 'phones are going up against the likes of Shure's SE530s, the Klipsch Custom-3s, and considering their small size and dual-armature status, perhaps even the Jays q-Jays.

Photos: Hands-on with the Nokia 5220 XpressMusic
Crave The inclusion of a top-mounted standard 3.5mm headphone socket won the phone serious brownie points, as did the inclusion of a dedicated music chip for better-than-average audio, which certainly seemed better than average during our initial tests...

Expert audio quality test: 5th gen iPod vs. iPod classic
Crave This was less true though with the Audio Technica W1000s, and less still through Shure SE530 earphones, which still retail for over £200. The debate has been raging among audiophilles for months now -- which has the better sound, the 5th gen video...

Photos: Ears-on with the Klipsch Custom-1 earphones
Crave We had problems with fitting the range of silicone tips Klipsch provides, and found that the compatible tips from competitor Shure's SE range of earphones allowed an easier fit and more comfortable wear, despite their larger, less ergonomic design.

Photos: Ears-on with the Klipsch Custom-2 earphones
Crave Like the Custom-3s, we initially had a hard job fitting them, and we immediately swapped out the bundled silicone tips for the compatible silicone and foam tips from Shure's SE range. Finally, here's a comparison between the silicone tips supplied...

Ears-on with the Klipsch Custom-3 earphones
Crave In that respect, they're on par with Shure's SE420s and the teeny tiny Jays' q-Jays, reviewed last October. The sound-isolating Klipsch Images were last pair of earphones we reviewed from the company and they were probably the most comfortable...

Sony MDR-EX700LP sound-isolating earphones: We're moist
Crave Will they end up knocking Shure's SE530s from their podium? Any regular Crave reader will know that we're obsessed with new and exciting headphones and earphones. The last pair we looked at from Sony were the PFR-V1s -- the wilfully sadistic...

Audio Technica CK10 earphones: The drivers of your life
Crave Now it's not the first time anyone's done this -- Jays put two inside the impossibly small q-Jays, Shure threw two woofers into the SE420s and then even went and put three complete drivers inside each of the SE530's 'phones.

Ears-on with the Denon AH-C751 earphones
Crave Still, they perform almost up to the standard we expect from a £250 pair, such as Shure's triple driver-boasting SE530s -- quite possibly the best consumer earphones on the market today. Denon's terrific AH-C700 earphones blew us away last year...

Ears-on with the Etymotic hf2 sound-isolating earphones
Crave So fresh are they there's no confirmed price, but £99 is the rough figure we've been given to work with, putting them in Shure SE310 and Denon AH-C700 territory. This is much less responsive than Denon's old C700s, which rock 12Hz-24,000KHz, but...

Klipsch Custom-3 earphones: High-end sound isolators
Crave When you think of earphones, you might think of Sennheiser, Etymotic or Shure. This is much like the Shure SE420s, another great pair of sound-isolators, but one woofer less than the flagship SE530s. The name that won't immediately jump out at you...

Oakley Split Thump: MP3-enabled shades are back. Again.
Crave iPod shuffles are popular choices for gym-goers and workout obsessives, and companies like Shure fit modular earphone cables into their designs to cater for such people. Oakley's new Split Thump sunglasses may look like a normal pair of Oakley...
