Fans of cult sci-fi comedy series Red Dwarf will soon be able to watch classic moments recreated in animated form on their mobile phones.
The 'mobisodes' are available from mobile entertainment company Pitch Entertainment, along with a social networking service and downloads.
The services will cost £3 per week for a new 'mobisode' along with access to a social network messaging service where fans can chat with each other via IM to discuss the programme.
There will also be the option of receiving six pieces of enhanced mobile content per week, including Red Dwarf ringtones and wallpapers, as well as other Pitch content such as videos and games.
Charles Armitage, chief executive of Noel Gay Productions -- which produced the original Red Dwarf and collaborated with Pitch -- said the technology gives fans the chance to enjoy exclusive content with the extra benefit of social networking.
Red Dwarf is now almost 20 years old and has been screened in more than 35 countries. The show was recently named 'Top Science Fiction and Fantasy Show of all time by' the Radio Times.
