Intel will hit its deadline to release a family of chips for devices and laptops by the end of the year, executives said at a dealer conference this week.
The chips will be made on the 45-nanometer process, according to a report from CRN.
Hitting a deadline is good news for Intel, which had a few damaging misses in 2004 and 2005. Last October, Anand Chandrasekher, who runs the group that makes the chips, told CNET.co.uk's sister site News.com that the chip is code-named Steeley and would come out in late 2007. The chip will be put into ultra-mobile PCs measuring about 100mm by 177mm. The code-name for the ultra-mobile PC reference design is McCaslin.
