With the launch of BT Fusion, one of the UK?s leading communications companies is ushering in a new phase of mobile technology: a mobile phone smart enough to recognise when it makes calls from home, when it will route calls through a wireless hub allowing customers to take advantage of calls at UK* landline rates.

The key to this product is the Bluetooth technology, which allows the service to switch seamlessly between using mobile and fixed line networks, offering a truly user-friendly approach. BT Fusion acts like a normal mobile outside the home and when you make calls from home, there are no switches to flip ? it all happens automatically. A wireless hub detects when the handset is within range and routes the voice calls from home over the wireless network. As soon as the handset moves out of range, the call is picked up by the BT Mobile network without any interruption to the conversation.

As well as the obvious cost advantages of such a flexible, intelligent system, the user can enjoy reception at home where they may not have had it before. The system can support six handsets per home, and cater for up to three in home calls, being made at the same time.

A unique and specially adapted Motorola V560 is included as part of the package along with a wireless BT Hub that works with BT Broadband. New handsets are planned in the coming months and will be added to the fusion range. Alongside all of the calling benefits, customers can enjoy all the advantages of a wireless hub in the home, such as wireless connections for PCs laptops, games consoles, printers, and broadband networks.
